I’m a Hater

111I hate war. I hate violence. I hate cowards that hide behind women and children. I hate seeing women and children dying because these cowards make them targets.  I hate terrorists.  I hate what these terrorists make young soldiers do.  I hate being hated for being Jewish. I hate Roger Waters.  I hate that I’m not welcome in Teheran or Beirut or Istanbul.   I hate that Jews in Paris can’t walk the streets safely.  I hate the leaders of the wealthy countries that sponsor terrorists.  I hate the people attempting to destroy civilization.  I hate that Israel has never lived in peace.  I hate that so many in the world don’t realize that all Israel wants is to live in peace.  I hate the United Nations. I hate Iran’s leadership.  I hate terror tunnels.  I hate anti-Semites.  I hate double standards.  I hate the lies being told.  I hate the instigators of violence. I hate missiles being fired at my people.  I hate those who don’t think my people have a right to make those missiles stop.  I hate those who desecrate the name of God by preaching murder.  I hate those who make me hate others. And I hate that I could keep going and going, but I will stop.  Because most of all, I hate hating.

I’m a hater

Where’s the Outcry?

Sweden Israel ProtestsThe number of Jews in Malmo, Sweden is probably at around 500-800.  The Muslim population in Malmo is around 100,000.  Earlier today a 38 year old Jewish man was beaten for hanging an Israeli flag outside his home.  The man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Swede Hospitalized After Flying Israeli Flag

This is our world.  A world where this type of behavior acceptable.   To those dumb enough to think Jews are the only targets or just too scared to say or do something, I urge you to read up about what happens to Christians in Nigeria.  You might see it differently.  You might even see this as the earlier stages of World War III.  Terrifying thought, but one I would love to be convinced is not the case.

In the meantime I ask those who are quick to judging and attacking the behavior of the Jewish people in Israel and throughout the world to pretend this was happening in the reverse and say what you would say then.   Come on Roger Waters,  you hypocritical anti-Semitic pond scum, where is your outrage now?  Where are the United Nations voices now?  Or is human rights a pick and choose issue.

I’ll say something I do not say often.  I am sure Israel is guilty of doing some things wrong when it comes to the handling of the Palestinians.  However, as long as this ridiculously lopsided double standard exists it holds significantly less importance, because to demand  fairness from one group while denying fairness to the ones you are demanding it from, destroys the credibility of the cause.

Another Schmuck Bites the Dust

Gary_Oldman_at_the_London_premiere_of_Tinker_Tailor_Soldier_Spy_(4)I remember when I once called Pink Floyd one of my favorite rock bands. Thanks to being partially made up of hypocritical anti-Semites Roger Waters and Nick Mason I no longer have a desire to even listen to their music.  Having for many years called my two favorite actors Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, I can now say it’s down to one.  Goodbye Gary Oldman, you moronic, anti-Semitic, homophobic, misogynist blowhard.  Turns out you’re closer to being the class of person you were in the Professional to the class of person you were in Batman.  You not only defended Mel Gibson, you actually came close to out doing him with your classless ranting.  CLICK HERE FOR TIMES OF ISRAEL ARTICLE.  And oh yeah.    Thanks for making the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie less enjoyable.  Even though from the previews I have the feeling it doesn’t work out well for your character.

A Genuine Man of Decency

tony-orlando

Hey Roger Waters, you no good piece of hypocritical garbage, where’s your voice of humanity now?  By showing the world that only people who aren’t Jewish matter, you reveal your true intentions.  This is what a genuine humanitarian does.  Growing up I never thought I’d like Tony Orlando and Dawn more than Pink Floyd, but that is where I am at now.  Thank you Tony Orlando for making a stand that shows those who will listen that Jewish life matters too.

Are These the Actions of an Evil Regime?

abbass

Israel, the Apartheid State.  The government that is persecuting Palestinians.  The regime committing genocide against the people of Palestine.   Really?  Does this sound like a country that would be taking care of the wife of the leader of the Palestinian authority?  Well that is exactly what happened this past weekend as the wife of Mahmoud Abbas had leg surgery in a hospital near Tel-Aviv.  But did the fair-minded speak out about this?  Did they ever stop to consider what would have happened if three Palestinian students had been kidnapped and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife would need surgery in most Arab nations?  Or even closer to home in the West Bank or Gaza?  As three Yeshiva students remain missing, likely kidnapped by Hamas or another similar terrorist organization, the Israeli government welcomed in and allowed the wife of Abbas to be cared for.  Does this strike you as the behavior of a state motivated to wipe the Palestinians off the planet.  Does it look like a government lacking in ethical human rights behavior?

We all know the answer.  Roger Waters knows the answer.  Emma Thompson knows the answer.  Alice Walker knows the answer.  But these phonies, Anti-Semites masquerading as humanitarians would never utter the words of truth that are so evident from the events taking place.   The worldwide movements to discredit Zionists, a smokescreen for decreasingly less subtle attacks on Jews, would never declare the truth about Israel, that it is a true democracy with true freedom and the highest level of human rights.  To do that would result in elevating the status of Jews worldwide, which in reality is why it is not done.  If you doubt this to be true just look at what it is happening in France on a regular basis to people because they are Jews, not because they are Zionists. And look at the recent murders in Brussels and wake up to the truth.  And that truth is that there are people who want to wipe the Jewish people from the planet, regardless of where they live.

We all say Never Again to something that on some very frightening levels has begun to happen again.  Did we ever know what we would do to stop it if it did?  Maybe not.  But it starts by seeing the reality of the situation and not closing our eyes, pretending it is not there and hoping it will go away.  That never worked and never will.

Balanced Intolerance

1713I write this as a follow-up to the post I wrote about how being a Liberal doesn’t mean tolerating anti-Semitism.  In this post, CLICK HERE TO READ, I make the statement that anti-Israel sentiment nowadays is, for the most part, rooted in anti-Semitism.   As I expected would happen, the following question was put to me by a fellow Jew and old friend.

“What about Jews who are not Zionists?”

Here is the answer I gave him:

I anticipated this question might be asked when I wrote the article. If one is opposed to the policies of the Israeli government and as a Jew is genuine, unless they are self hating Jews they are not the problem. As a Jew, should one ever tolerate the murder of another Jew? If their view is that Israeli policy is the murder of Palestinians, my question to them is the one I stated in the article. Is the intolerance balanced? And even if there is evidence and statistics to back up their stance, do they look at the whole picture? Do they recognize the threats Jews have always faced? Do they recognize the fact that Israel had war waged against it just for existing? Did they get at least as angry at this? http://mfa.gov.il/…/Suicide%20bombing%20at%20the…And do they recognize that someone such as Roger Waters making it his life’s mission to go after Israel and ignore countries guilty of much greater human right’s violations is motivated by a hatred of Jews not the love of people?

Where I personally hit a disconnect with like-minded people is that I often feel there is more going on than meets the eye.  It sometimes becomes fashionable to call someone anti-Semitic when their overall actions  don’t necessarily confirm the assertion.  I rather go after those who leave no doubt, such as Roger Waters and Alice Walker.  There are many Jews who are not Zionists.  Most of them are ultra-Orthodox.  By no means does that mean that all ultra-Orthodox are anti-Zionist, instead it means that the majority of the time a Jew opposes the State of Israel it is rooted in religious belief rather than political belief.  Either way, they are not the people looking to see the end of the Jewish people, and in my opinion, they are not the enemy.  I wish they were, for that would mean there would be no one out there openly trying to bring about our death and destruction, and our biggest foe would be fellow Jews with an anti-Israeli government approach. It would be a problem, but one we’d all rather be fighting.

Taking the Fizz out of Hypocrisy

M7u7PRhAs someone who is always keeping his eyes open for anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiment, something that most honest people know to be one of the same, I tried to find evidence that the banning of the SodaStream ad from the Super Bowl by FOX was one more example of hatred of the Jewish people.  Despite any solid evidence to back this up, the ripple effects of this story have been enormous in a variety of ways.

Although diminished over the years, I have a personal connection to SodaStream.  This personal connection has caused me to pay a little extra attention to the company and the success it has generated.  When I heard that Scarlett Johansson had agreed to be a spokesperson and would be in a commercial airing during the Super Bowl, as was the case with many other Jews and Zionists, I felt a tremendous degree of excitement and pride.  Not only was this a blow to the BDS  (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) Movement  inasmuch as it had a major Israeli company on the public stage, it also represented a high profile, popular and beautiful actress showing the character and strength to support an Israeli company with no apparent concern for the backlash she might receive from others within her industry and from other industries.

But it gets better.  As many already know, SodaStream is an example of everything that is right in modern Israeli capitalism.   Here is a company, providing a good product, environmentally sound and beneficial to its users, seemingly providing great success to its owners and management team while providing fair and equitable employment to residents of the areas of Israel where the product is manufactured.  Let me repeat that for Roger Waters and other proud supporter of the BDS Movement.  Providing fair and equitable employment to residents of the areas of Israel where the product is manufactured.  That encompasses what they like to refer to as the “occupied territories”.

The best news of all however, is that not only despite the fact that SodaStream’s ad was pulled from the Super Bowl but maybe even because it was, the company has become more well known in the past few days than it may ever have dreamed of becoming.  In some ways I’ll go as far as saying that a situation that was supposed to be nothing more than a business venture has turned into a political gain for the State of Israel.  The United States of America, a country I am proud to call my home, is now the setting for one of the most blatant examples of corporate censorship you will ever encounter.   The control that Coca-Cola and Pepsi have over the Super Bowl is so tremendous they have basically forced the network covering the event to not allow an advertisement that attacks their product.   The fact that the company that manufactures this product, SodaStream, is being unjustly attacked for making a product at the expense of the human rights of others, will totally expose those whose activism against Israel is based on anti-Semitism rather than a genuine, albeit misguided pursuit of justice.   The irony practically makes me giddy and although I myself am not a soda drinker, the impact this has had will cause me to purchase SodaStream as a gift for someone at my first opportunity.

Of course the one sobering fact is that logic and truth have never stood in the path of those who have wished to cause pain to and destruction of the Jewish people.  With that said the fight needs to continue on many fronts, and today as a Jew and Zionist I thank Scarlett Johansson and SodaStream for what in the minds of many is a victory in one of the many battles we will unfortunately continue to have to fight.  Then again the personal connection I mentioned earlier makes it very easy to believe that SodaStream would be in the middle of something so significantly helpful to Israel’s image at a time it needed it the most.

Mind boggling

bar_refaeli_face_photoIt is tremendously unfortunate that I need to follow up my post about Bar Rafaeli by defending a woman who made global news in defense of the Jewish state.  Since the time I wrote the last post, I’ve been told she is a draft dodger who has been highly criticized in Israel for not going into the army.  I’ve even been told that she is widely criticized for her Liberal views.  Since when does having Liberal views automatically label you as being bad for the Jewish people or State of Israel?  Bar Rafaeli came right out and went after an individual, Roger Waters, who is and enemy of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.  I appreciate the passion felt by former soldiers in the Israeli Defense Forces, and a Jew I am forever in their debt for their service.  This I say with total sincerity and conviction.  However, to those criticizing Rafaeli I say this.  Go after your enemies not your friends.  Here is a public figure using her high profile status to try and combat a subtle but significant evil and what she deserves is gratitude and support.  It is not everyone’s responsibility to be part of the solution, but in going after Bar Rafaeli you become part of the problem.

A Woman of Valor

Bar-Refaeli-1As a follow up to my post attacking the self-serving, hypocritical, anti-Semite Roger Waters, I present to you this post about a person who is everything he is not.  The great and I say this with conviction, the great Bar Rafaeli.  All of us who appreciate the beauty of a woman have already been fans to some extent of this stunningly sexy and beautiful model, but God given looks are not enough to make a person great.  One’s greatness comes with what they do with what they have.  I do not know Bar Rafaeli, so unless the good Lord decides I’ve done something so right in my life that I do actually get to meet her one day, all I have to go by is what I read and hear.

As a Jew I am tremendously proud of how Bar Rafaeli has represented herself to the general public in defense of the honor of Israel, the Jewish state.  In declaring to the world that she wants her image removed from Roger Waters show due to his call to boycott Israel, she is showing herself to be someone with great integrity, honor, and courage.  She is showing the world that she is something very special and something traditionally every Jewish woman strives to be.  She is a Woman of Valor.  It is easy to stay quiet.  It is sometimes even better for business.  Bar Rafaeli has shown character and strength in defending her people and her land.  As far as I am concerned she can represent the Jewish people any time and as a Jew, I thank her.

Getting Satisfaction from Rock Legends

stonesIn a world where we find the time to get offended by the rantings of a fictional depraved talking Teddy bear, stories like this one do not seem to get the attention they deserve.  The Rolling Stones, 4 men who actually can influence people of common sense and intelligence with their music and image, defied the anti-Semites and hypocrites who put pressure on them to cancel their Israel tour celebrating Israel’s 65th Birthday. Rather than give in to the bullying, the Stones showed character and wisdom by not only refusing to cancel the tour, but by actually adding one extra day.   Mick Jagger, possibly the greatest front man for a rock group of all time was quoted as saying, ““We’ve been slammed and smacked and twittered a lot by the anti-Israeli side. “All I can say is: anything worth doing is worth overdoing. So we decided to add a concert on Tuesday.”  Are you paying attention Roger Waters?  This is what true character and wisdom looks like.

I’ve always loved the Stones, calling them my second favorite band of all time after the Beatles.  Not only does this make me like them even more, it makes me want to save my money in case they ever come through New York to perform another concert.  I had the great experience of seeing them live at Shea Stadium in 1989, and would be very happy to spend my money to see them again.

Thank you Mick, Keith, Charlie, and Ron.  I am very proud to call myself a fan of four genuine, decent, and immensely talented artists.  You do Rock music and all it is meant to stand for proud.
