Israel wins a game of Chicken

faa-logo-387x400If the report from Channel 2 News in Israel is accurate, the Israeli government outmaneuvered the American government in what might be described as a political game of Chicken.   The report from Arad Nir of Channel 2 Israel states that the Israeli government told the US that it understands the rules and reasoning of the FAA in banning flights to Tel-Aviv, but that the situation could not continue this way and that to change it they would need to amp up and accelerate the operation in Gaza.   Click to see the report by the Jewish Press.

In doing this Israel reinforced one fact and may have proven another. The fact that it reinforced is once again that it has been showing incredible amounts of restraint.  This fact has been reinforced over and over in numerous ways so there is no reason to believe those denying it will change their tune, but this indeed does provide one more piece of evidence.  The second claim it may have verified is that the ban from the FAA was more about politics than it was about safety.  If indeed the US Government was using the banning of flights into Ben-Gurion as a way of strong-arming Israel into stopping or pulling back on its operation in Gaza, Israel’s response politically outmaneuvered the U.S.

The fact that Israel may have been put into a position where it needed to outmaneuver the United States, a nation that traditionally has been a close friend and ally,  is another sad commentary of a very sad time.

A Missing Plane and a Frightening Scenario

Swiftair_-_Boeing_737-301(SF)In some ways it feels like we are watching the first 45 minutes of an epic disaster movie.  Of course we all know about the war in Gaza.  Israel, a free and democratic country fighting a government controlled by the terrorist organization Hamas.  That in itself is bad enough.  But my friends, when you look at today’s events, and what tomorrow is on the Muslim calendar, it could get a lot worse.  It is not in my nature to be alarmist or sensationalist, but we also live in a time when all things need to be considered, no matter how frightening they may be.

Earlier today we get word that Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the spiritual leader of Iran made the following comments regarding Israel:  “As said by Imam Khomeini [the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran] Israel must be destroyed…However, until that time with the help of God for this cruel and murderous regime to be destroyed, strong confrontation with steadfast armed resistance is the only solution against this destructive regime.”  He also stated, regarding the United States: “The anti-American and anti-West view in Iran is a logical view based on experience and a righteous calculation.”

His sentiments are not news.  We know he feels this way, as do millions of his followers.  What is different is the timing, and hopefully not, but possibly another difference is the biggest news story of the day.

First the timing.  Tomorrow is “Quds Day”.  Quds, Arabic for Jerusalem, is a day created by Iran since its revolution in 1979, celebrated on the last day of Ramadan, as a day to express solidarity for the Palestinians against the State of Israel.  Comments made by any Muslim leader today are at least partially designed to motivate and instigate the people into not only protesting and demonstrating, but to do so as violently as possible.  There is no question that Khameini is looking to incite as much violence against Jews as possible,  not only in Israel, but throughout the world.

And then there is the biggest news story of today.  A plane taking off from Algeria has gone missing.  Yes, you  read correctly, gone missing.  Algeria, a North African Muslim nation that donated money made in the World Cup to Hamas and a people who make up the majority of France’s Muslim population committing brutal acts of anti-Semitism.  It is from that country that a plane has gone missing on the eve of Quds Day.  It’s an awful day in world history when one must say, let’s hope the plane only crashed.

It is possible that tomorrow comes and goes and is a repeat of many of the days of the past few weeks.  Awful, but not catastrophic.  But the days of underestimating the enemy’s brutality and capabilities are behind us now.  We no longer have that luxury.

When it Comes to Human Rights the UN tends to exclude the Jewish State

UNHRC OHCHR_CIThe United Nations Human Rights Council(UNHRC) is preparing an investigation as to whether or not Israel has committed war crimes during the recent operation in Gaza, questioning whether or not enough has been done to protect civilians.  Once again corruption stands in the way of what could otherwise be a righteous mission.  They do not destroy their credibility by investigating Israel, they destroy it by only investigating Israel.  By conveniently leaving Hamas out of the investigation, the UNHRC is transparent in its anti-Israel stance.   An investigation that would be acceptable if it was in conjunction with an investigation of whether or not Hamas is doing enough to protect Israeli civilians, has now become another example of the UN’s hypocrisy.  The inconsistency is so glaring it is bizarre that it is not ridiculed and attacked outside the Jewish world. Israel targets Hamas military locations, Hamas targets Israel’s population centers, yet only one side gets investigated.  And it’s not the side you would expect if you would read the previous sentence without bias.  The hypocrisy is glaring and disgusting.

Any human rights organization has the responsibility of being objective and thorough.  If 2 acts of violence occur on a local level, the police are required, and justifiably so, to investigate both actions, even if one was clearly a crime and the other an act of self-defense.  A conclusion must be drawn that if you have done the right thing, an investigation will identify that.  If you were in the wrong, an investigation will show that as well.

In only investigating Israel the United Nations is once again showing why it is the most corrupt organization in world history.  If the goal was for justice and world peace, they would search for the truth rather than for a way to justify their bias.  It is not the first time Israel has been targeted by the UN and it most certainly won’t be the last.  It is time that people woke up to the hypocrisy of an organization that is taking civilization down a tragic path. Unfortunately there is no sign that people will want to wake up to that reality that any time soon.

Letter to the U.S. State Department regarding money pledged to Gaza

departmentseal2

After calling Senator Charles Schumer’s office in regard to the $47 million in aid pledged to Gaza, I sent the following letter to the U.S. State Department.  Should anyone else wish to do the same you can do so by going to http://www.state.gov/contact/

To whom it may concern,

It has been made public that the United States has pledged $47 million in humanitarian aid for the residents of Gaza.  Working from the premise that genuine humanitarian aid is a proper use of funds, as a concerned citizen of the United States and a supporter of Israel, I would like to know what provisions are being made to guarantee that these funds are being used for the designated purpose.  Since a large percentage of donations to Gaza have clearly been used on the purchase of missiles and the building of sophisticated terror tunnels, I believe, as do many others, that  every citizen has a right to know that money sent to this area is not being used to further a terrorist agenda.

Please let us know how, as a citizenry, we can remain updated on the proper allocation of these funds.

Sincerely,

David Groen

The Truth is in the Statistic they use the Most to Tell the Lie

Gaza-Strip-001VERY SIMPLE AND VERY BRIEF POINT.  IF INDEED ISRAEL WAS TARGETING CIVILIANS AS THE LIAR MUSTAFA BARGHOUTI AND OTHER PALESTINIANS CLAIM, THE DEATH TOLL IN GAZA AT THIS STAGE OF THE OPERATION WOULD BE CLOSER TO 60,000 THAN TO 600.  IT IS A CLEAR AND LOGICAL REALITY THAT ONLY THOSE WISHING TO ACCEPT WILL DO. THOSE WHO WISH TO DISTORT REALITY TO FURTHER THEIR AGENDA WILL NOT.

If a Plane Went down, Would they blame Israel?

russianmissileIn light of the events of earlier today in which the FAA shut down flights from the United States to and from Israel, I ask the following question.  If, God forbid,  a plane travelling into Tel-Aviv were to be shot down, who would be held accountable for yet another unspeakable tragedy in the skies?  Last week when Malaysian flight 17 was shot down killing all 298 passengers, Russian supported rebels were identified as responsible for firing the surface to air missile that brought down the plane.  The world has understandably been in an uproar over this horrific act.  Governments, including the United States government have been demanding action from Vladimir Putin, as the leader of Russia, the nation most people are blaming for this tragedy.  So if such an awful event would take place near Tel-Aviv, naturally any logical thinking and fair-minded individual would blame Hamas who is firing the missiles, or even take it one step further, Iran, the nation that sponsors the terrorist organization ruling Gaza. Naturally, but unlikely.

As much as that should make sense to anyone reading this, we all know Israel would be blamed and pressured into stopping the operation whose sole purpose is to stop these attacks.  There would be no headline reading, ‘Plane shot down by Iranian missile”.  I pray to God this theory isn’t tested, but I know that any such test would prove my theory accurate.  There is, more often than not an unfair standard when it comes to world opinion and the State of Israel.  I am quite confident this would be no different.

Meet Mustafa Barghouti:Palestinian Activist and Liar

barghoutAfter watching Mustafa Barghouti, General Secretary of the Palestinian Initiative being interviewed by Brett Baier of FOX News, I found myself somewhat sickened by the distortion of the facts by this man who calls himself a Palestinian activist.  If this man is truly working for his people, how come he is so comfortable spewing out lies that drive his people to war.  I believe the answer lies in his own personal ambition for fortune and power.

The cynical way he lied to the camera, speaking of Hamas as though they were a legitimate partner in peace indeed tells a more tragic story.  Neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority  are legitimate partners in peace.  He looked straight at the camera, fully aware that Israel has done everything its power to minimize civilian casualties, and declared that Israel is targeting women and children.  The hypocrisy of his preaching a non-violent resistance while lying so blatantly and supporting Hamas in Gaza should be obvious to most.  There’s just one problem.  There is a saying, “if he had brains he’d be dangerous.”  What we see here is  a man who has brains and is indeed very dangerous.  As he looks into the camera and tells lies about Israel’s intentions and who is to blame for this conflict, he does so in a convincing and eloquent manner, allowing those who wish to believe the lies the opportunity they are looking for.

As we know, lies are being told about Israel every day while Hamas hides in schools and hospitals, but the problem becomes when someone like Barghouti tells these lies, and does so over and over, they become believable to far too many people.  And that is one battle in the war we will have serious problems overcoming.  Especially since it is one we will not fight the same way.

Hollow demands

UN-Secretary-General-Ban-Ki-moonIn comparison to previous crises involving Israel, the United Nations has behaved in a somewhat less one-sided way over the past few weeks.  The same can be said for the American President Barack Obama.  The support of the administration has been there as has the support of Congress and the American people.  However, at the end of the day the government of the State of Israel is committed to a specific result.  That result is the establishment of a peaceful life for all residents of Israel free of Hamas missiles and terror attacks.  Heroic soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces have made the ultimate sacrifice in the early stages of Operation Protective Edge and I am certain that the leaders of Israel’s government have no intention of allowing their lives to be lost for nothing.  In making demands that the fighting stops, the United Nations and President Obama are making demands that have no substance.  If we were to assume that the motivation was purely to put a stop to the deaths of innocent people, the demands contradict the motive.  The only way innocent people in Gaza and Israel will live in peace is by destroying, or at the very least incapacitating Hamas.

Furthermore, by what authority does anyone makes demands from Israel when it comes to protecting their people?  If your best friend demanded you not protect your family so as to not harm others, would you listen?  No.  You would protect your family.  You would also realize that  any true friend, or at least a friend with good judgment would never ask that of you in the first place.  The reaction you must have in such an instance is a simple one.  You continue to do what is best for your family.

This for all intents and purposes is what I suspect will be Israel’s response to what I see as nothing more than hollow demands.

A Day of Unity and Support

Israel wants peace; Hama’s wants war! This was the rallying cry today at a pro-Israel rally in Times Square.  What was being called a rally of 3 thousand people but was probably closer to 10 thousand made sure that the message was loud and clear. Israel wants peace!! Hamas wants war! I was proud to be there.

An Ironic Misuse of Democracy

APTOPIX-France-Gaza-P_Druk-1024x682After the civil disturbances of last weekend, the French government banned all public forms of protest this weekend in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.  The bans resulted in Muslim residents and politicians crying foul, claiming this was a smear on France’s Democracy and against everything the democratic process stands for.  What is their demand?  One riddled with irony.  They claim to want the Palestinians in Gaza to live in peace and freedom under their current government.  Just one problem they conveniently forget.  Their government is run by Hamas, a terror organization that is anything but democratic.

The irony is glaring.  In democracies all over the world protestors are shouting angrily against the “Zionist entity’s aggression” against the people of Gaza.  An aggression that is a response to the constant barrage of missiles from Hamas.  Missiles bought with the money donated to Gaza to help the people.  Money donated to the most non-democratic tyrannical government one could find.  A government that will hurt anyone that opposes them from within and that does not allow any other party to rise within its territory. THIS is the government that protestors are using the luxuries of democracies platforms all over the world from which to shout “Free Palestine”.  They just have no clue what exactly they are freeing them from and more importantly, what they are freeing them to.  There is only one democracy in the entire Arab world, and that country considered the Arab world’s one democracy is Turkey.  A democracy with a government doing everything possible to put a stranglehold on the system to eliminate any other party.  The only real democracy in the entire region is the so-called oppressor, Israel.

So next time you hear a Palestinian supporter shout “Free Palestine” ask them the following question.  Free them to do what?  To be ruled by terrorist and tyrants?  Most if not all will have no other answer other than, “free them from the Zionist pigs”.  They have clarity when it comes to their hate, but little sense as to how to truly better the lives of the people they claim to care about, while using the comfort of democracy to shout merely for the sake of shouting.  The most ironic part of this whole thing is that at least for now the people they are hurting the most are the people they claim to want to help.
